For decades, neither I nor Clint Hill ever talked about what happened. Clint said "I was given a responsibility, I was the only agent in a position to do anything that day and I failed in my responsibility to do that. Therefore, I still feel that sense of guilt."
I too repressed the anger, guilt and sadness for more than four decades."We had no trauma counseling whatsoever. We had to swallow it in our fashion." Working on The Kennedy Detail book was cathartic, and a welcome release of pent up emotions.

The Maryland State Police the Gaithersburg Police Department and the Maryland Chief’s Association are pleased to announce a training seminar entitled “The Kennedy Detail – Psychological Impact of Trauma.” Guest Speakers include U.S. Secret Service Special Agents Gerald Blaine and Clint Hill. Mr. Blaine and Mr. Hill are two of the US Secret Service Detail assigned to President Kennedy, his wife Jacqueline, and their children, on November 22, 1963. They now break their silence, held since that fateful day in November 1963, as they discuss the Assassination, their silence, and the effect it had on their lives. On hand to answer questions, dispel myths, and provide additional information will be Dr. Liz Beth Binks, Maryland State Police Psychological Services.
The training will be held Friday, May 20, 2011 beginning at 1500 hours and ending at 2200 hours in the auditorium of Gaithersburg High School, 314 South Frederick Avenue, Gaithersburg, MD 20877-2307
This training is being sponsored by the Maryland Chief’s Association and is provided free of charge. Class size is limited to 1100 students. MSP personnel wishing to attend can register online through the MSP Online Data Management System (DMS). Personnel must have their Commander’s approval prior to registration.
